Shipping Company Director Arrested: Indians Were Being Sent Abroad with Fake Documents, Company Found to Hold an RPSL License
News Tanks
Mumbai. Ajay Shirodkar, director of Goa-based shipping company Shirodkar Ocean Empire Pvt. Ltd., was arrested on Sunday at Mumbai Airport. He has been accused of running a large-scale human trafficking and fake seafarer recruitment racket.
Unemployed youths were lured with promises of jobs on ships and charged between ₹1 lakh to ₹5 lakh.
What makes the case more serious is that the company involved in this racket holds a valid RPSL license. As per official records:
Company Name: SHIRODKAR OCEAN EMPIRE PRIVATE LIMITED
RPSL License Number: RPSL-MUM-162234
License Status: Active
Issue Date: May 02, 2024
Valid Up To: May 02, 2029
This clearly shows that the accused was not only deceiving unemployed youths but was also using the credibility of a DG Shipping-approved RPSL license to gain their trust.
Now, the key question remains will DG Shipping take action in this case? Another critical point is if cases were already registered against the accused earlier, why was the license not suspended?
According to available information, Ajay himself has served as a captain and last sailed on a ship about two years ago.

Order to Pay Pending Wages to Seafarer, ONGC to Clear ₹4 Lakh in 10 Days
News Tanks
Mumbai. A big news has come out from Mumbai. The Directorate General of Shipping (DG Shipping) has ordered public sector company ONGC Limited to pay the pending wages of an Indian seafarer who had worked on its vessel. According to the order, the company must pay ₹4,03,199.70 (four lakh three thousand rupees) within 10 days.
The seafarer had filed a complaint stating that he had not received his full wages after working on the vessel ‘Sagar Vijay’ (MODU Sagar Vijay).
He served on the vessel from March 22 to July 1, 2025. During this period, his wages remained unpaid.
On August 25, DG Shipping held a hearing on the complaint. During this hearing, Vindhyawashini Offshore Services Pvt. Ltd. (Contractor), ONGC (Owner and Principal Employer), and Avvic Ocean LLP (Managing Agency) were present. All parties admitted that the wages of the seafarer were indeed pending.
Mumbai’s Shipping Master, Mukul Dutta, issued the order stating that ONGC Limited, being the owner and principal employer of the vessel, is responsible for clearing the seafarer’s pending wages. The company must make the payment within 10 days of receiving the order.
Why is this decision important?
In the maritime sector, complaints about seafarers not receiving their wages on time often arise. In such a situation, this order of DG Shipping is being seen as a big relief and hope for other seafarers as well.

🚨 Alert for Seafarers 🚨
⚠️ Important Notice for Seafarers ⚠️
It has come to light that some Delhi-based marine services are posting on Instagram & other social media platforms, falsely claiming that they are selecting candidates for Carnival, MSC, and RCL. @theRCLblog@MSCCruisesUSA@MSC_Cruises_UK@SanjeevMSCindia@CarnivalCruise@carnivalssi@RoyalCaribbean
👉 These claims are misleading and can cause serious harm to genuine seafarers.
📌 We want to make it clear:
If any Indian official crewing agency is found to be involved in such malpractices, the Owner/Principals will take strict action against them.
Seafarers are advised to remain alert and always verify through official company channels before proceeding with any job offer.
