Fmr. U.S. Navy intel officer Malcolm Nance lays out the military reality that has zero diplomatic cushion:

America has reached the absolute limits of both air and sea power against Iran, the naval campaign was an afterthought from Day 1, and the political will to absorb casualties does not exist for this White House.

"There was NEVER a strategy in this war. Trump thought this war was going to last a matter of days..."

Iran's demands, meanwhile, are maximalist: fees 500x higher than any other strait, reparations for two wars, all sanctions lifted, U.S. forces out of the region, and Gaza.

Nance says that's exactly what a side that knows it has America over a barrel looks like.

As far as Israel is concerned, the diesel subs are out of port, Netanyahu personally visited the Dimona nuclear facility, and Iran already fired ballistic missiles at villages near Dimona as a DIRECT warning.

ANY Israeli nuclear strike would trigger the largest global disarmament campaign in history... and make Israel a permanent pariah, if it isn't already one.

🇺🇸🇮🇷 Geopolitical Analyst Matt Bracken thinks America just lost a kind of war it doesn't know how to fight yet.

Iran's newest ballistic missile reportedly costs around $1 million to build, state-run production, no profit margin. America's comparable interceptor runs roughly 20 times that, and the U.S. can only produce a few hundred a year.

Matt's math is blunt: if the defense costs 10 times more than the offense it's stopping, the war is unwinnable by attrition, full stop.

He's equally skeptical of a symbolic "final bombing" of the mountain facility. Been there, done that, he says; Trump already claimed to have "obliterated" the program once.

The real fight, in Matt's view, isn't over the nuclear program at all. It's over the Strait of Hormuz, and he says Iran has zero incentive to hand back control, because time doesn't cost Tehran anything the way it costs Washington.

No midterms. No economy tipping into recession. No allies quietly panicking over oil.

Which is why he thinks the emerging Oman-brokered deal, a Malacca Strait–style shared arrangement among Iran, Oman, Saudi Arabia and the Gulf states, will happen with one notable absence: the U.S. Navy.

Matt doesn't see American warships back in the Gulf, doesn't see Bahrain's Fifth Fleet headquarters mattering again, and doesn't see Washington invited to the table when the region's major powers sit down to actually work this out.

On Ukraine striking Iranian shipping in the Caspian, Matt calls it a mistake baited by NATO decision-makers, not a Zelensky initiative.

He warns that fusing the Ukraine and Iran wars into one conflict is the actual nightmare scenario, not the missile symbolism everyone's been focused on.

If U.S. bases stop functioning as protection, does the American forward-basing model in the Gulf survive this war at all?

The U.S. and Iran are locked in the same conflict, but waging completely different wars.

America is destroying more targets, firing more advanced weapons, and delivering far greater firepower than Iran, but military analyst Andreas Krieg told Brandon Weichert it's still losing the war.

Tehran is preserving its missile stockpiles, stretching the conflict out, and forcing the U.S. to burn through extremely expensive interceptors and precision munitions.

It's a strategy of endurance, not dominance.

According to Andreas, that's exactly why Iran doesn't need to win battlefield after battlefield; it simply has to survive.

He points to Iranian strikes that have degraded U.S. surveillance and reconnaissance networks across the Gulf, forcing Washington to use more resources simply to maintain the same level of awareness.

At the same time, the IRGC continues operating through decentralised units that don't depend on the military infrastructure America has spent weeks destroying.

The U.S. can demolish radar sites, flatten bases and logistics hubs, but if the system keeps functioning, what's really changed?

Andreas believes the trap Washington is falling into is measuring success by the number of targets destroyed rather than whether those strikes are changing the political reality.

Meanwhile, America's own partners are paying the price.

As civilian infrastructure inside Iran comes under attack, Tehran has responded by targeting energy facilities and desalination plants across the Gulf.

Countries like Kuwait, Bahrain and Qatar suddenly find themselves pulled into a war they never chose.

According to Andreas, Gulf leaders are now putting heavy pressure on Washington to dial back the escalation before their own economies and critical infrastructure suffer even greater damage.

And then there's the question Washington still hasn't convincingly answered: What does victory actually look like?

America is measuring success by how much damage it can inflict.

Iran is measuring success by whether it can still fight tomorrow.

Andreas believes only one of those strategies has a believable path to victory.
