All this doc talk today has me thinking about Kobe.

CONTEXT IS KING…

Kobe and Lebron were two All time great players I had the privilege to watch. Their matchups together should have been better though and now all I see is 16-6 everytime I open up this App. That record is extremely overblown and here are a few reasons why:

-Kobe barely play in the first 2 WINS vs Lebron due to injury in 04/05. Lowers his averages by a lot because he started the games and scored 10pts in 17 minutes in 2004 and then just 2 pts in just 6 minutes in 2005. Lowers those averages by a lot.

-Kobe Went 1-5 vs Heat superteam with a way worse Laker team

-Kobe Went 0-3 vs Cavs Superteam as a shell of himself post Achilles injury. Do we really consider Kobe destroying Jordan when Jordan played for the Wizards? Do we blow that out of proportion? NO, because we understand the context that Jordan wasn’t Jordan. And Kobe wasn’t Kobe when he went 0-3 vs LeBron post Achilles.

Kobe vs Lebron matchups were underwhelming mostly due to Kobe being injured in 5 of the games, and Lebron forming superteams. Plus Kobe had worse teams in 70% of their match ups. When the talent level on both teams aren’t equal y’all cry. And When we bring up LeBron’s Finals win/loss record then it’s a “winning games is a TEAM accomplishment”, to defend LeBron. Hypocritical as usual. Not objective at all. Fan behavior, no true rational.

But if winning championships are team accomplishments then what the heck you think this head to head match up is when winning the game is a team accomplishment? Their record doesn’t prove much of anything. It certainly doesn’t prove Lebron is better given the circumstances. But y’all parade it on this app everyday all day.
