@juhaalslayer ulema also have an opinion: rejection incident of Syria moon sighting. This may not be a very a thousand year old way but seems like it's one of the classical views. So in this opinion, the moon sighting may apply to the western lands but not easy of where it was sighted.
@juhaalslayer Basant can be easily disregarded with Loss of Life, Waste of Time & Money, Israaf, Mixed Gathering and other issues the Islam wants us to stay away from. Why do we stick to the weakest argument?
I believe it's bcaz the rules described make many other things difficult for us.
@juhaalslayer So my main concern is about consistency.
There are plenty of back stories where issues could be taken like Safa-Marwa also has a dark origin. Theological evolutions are documented in our books and those are some fun things to read.
But it's more about what the intention is.
@juhaalslayer Having said that... isn't it Ok to accept something if it's disconnected from it's roots and accepted widely as something that's adopted in some other sense.
e.g.
🌙 & ⭐ in flags of Muslim countries
Names like Zulekha, Yã-Seen, Tāhā, Parwaz
@juhaalslayer As expected of one raising an objection to such points, I haven't participated in basant activities since 2006 and don't have a strong opinion for or against it ATM. Didn't have any charm, inclination, time or energy to have joined it (btw I was in LHR on Friday.
@SeanALarabee@juneslater17 I am inclined to every single thing you said. Parents should be the people to approve everything their kids are taught. having said that your last sentence shows how much you know about islam yourself so may be you shouldn't teach your kids something you know nothing bout
