When Bucha was released, we immediately sent mobile groups to work there. And we were shocked.

All this hell that we faced in those days is the result of total impunity that Russia has enjoyed for decades — they have never been punished. Russians believe that they can do whatever they want.

We must establish a special tribunal to hold Putin and other war criminals accountable.

في خطوة هي الأولى على طريق الكشف عن مصير المفقودين في سوريا، قامت الفرق المختصة في الدفاع المدني السوري (الخوذ البيضاء)، بالتعاون مع اللجنة الدولية للصليب الأحمر في سوريا وجهات محلية، بتسليم جثمان المعتقل السابق في سجن صيدنايا، محمد ماهر أحمد الدرباس، إلى عائلته بعد التعرف عليه وينحدر الدرباس من بلدة يلدا بريف دمشق، وكان معتقلاً في سجن صيدنايا سيئ السمعة التابع لنظلم الأسد، الذي ارتُكبت داخله انتهاكات واسعة لحقوق الإنسان.
هذه الخطوة، ليست سوى بداية لمسار طويل ومعقد، ندرك جيداً أنه شاق ومؤلم، لكنه ضروري في سبيل الكشف عن مصير الآلاف من المفقودين والمغيبين قسرياً، وتضميد جراح عائلاتهم التي تنتظر بصيص أمل منذ سنوات، والسير نحو تحقيق العدالة ومحاسبة مرتكبي هذه الجرائم.
