Spotify Premium has had lossless audio for about a year. Most subscribers have never turned it on.He opens the app, taps a playlist, hits shuffle, and puts the phone down. Same routine in the car, at the gym and at his desk. Every few songs, the same ones come back.
Every song ends in a half-second of silence before the next one starts. His recommendations are full of cartoon songs from the one afternoon his daughter borrowed his phone. He assumed that's what streaming sounds like.
