@N2dapast Do you add raw egg to your snow cream? I made two batches. The non egg batch was like Ice milk; the one with egg was creamier. Our he laid it yesterday, so mighty fresh. Gimme the egg.
Anybody making snow cream tonight? Sure brings back childhood memories of mom whipping up a batch during the Kentucky snows, more common then. #snowstorm#SnowStorm2022
@soulfoodscholar@NPRWeekend@NPR Heard you chewing the fat on peas and greens and cornbread this morning while starting a batch of jazzed up hoppin John & collards and country ham hocks. Enjoyed the talk of traditions
@jedportman Yep. Little plastic yellow corn cob holders with forks hung out in my parents’ spoon drawer in KY in the 70s-80s. Wonder when they were invented?
@Mustafa3000@southfoodways@soulfoodscholar@SaraCampArnold@johntedge@fahmida_azim I just savored that beautiful essay. My wife and I raise goats. Killing is never fun or easy. A chest freezer of goat parts, though, means a lot of meal possibilities. Thanks for this musical soulful reflection on sacred dining and community.
@ShaneAWood I recall the unrelenting heat and cloudless skies of north Mississippi from 25 years ago w/ no AC, just air flow from windows and a fan. It made going outside much easier since the temp difference was minimal. But did we ever save $ on electric bills!
@ShaneAWood I ‘member those #bbq journeys with you, @ShaneAWood, fondly, and thought of you this week when the students interviewed me for this @wkuherald story. Hugs from home.
