I am glad that Fadzlina, the Education Minister, has come out to explain openly why she discourages her children from using the word kafir or infidels. Some misguided Muslims are trying to portray her as denying the existence of the word kafir in the Quran

She was not trying to do that. Infidels and Kafirs are terms used in the context of enemies of early Islam working hard to stop the religion from spreading. Islam today is no longer in its infancy. It’s the religion with the most significant following. The enemies of Islam are no longer the traditional ones who carry the label of infidels.

Islam's true enemy today is ignorance. It's false preachers teaching false Islam.Its lack of knowledge. It’s poverty. It’s economic deprivation. These are the natural enemies. Not infidels. Muslims must learn to identify real enemies to overcome; that’s her message, or they will forever be in the present state.

If orthodox groups consider inon-Muslims as their enemies by reason only that these people belong to a different religion and are kafirs;, then the Muslim world will be fighting a senseless, futile battle which they can’t win.

They can isolate themselves, of course, live in their own world, and refuse to interact with the kafirs; it’s them who are losers. The world will move on
