The misconception that there is no sound in space originates because most space is a ~vacuum, providing no way for sound waves to travel. A galaxy cluster has so much gas that we've picked up actual sound. Here it's amplified, and mixed with other data, to hear a black hole!
I'm late to post, but I'm very happy to be interning at VMware Research Group once again this summer! My nosiest "coworker" is really quite pleased I get to #wfh. #vmwareu#vmwarelife
I helped out a bit the last leg of the project, and it was inspiring to see how much hard work had already gone into designing and creating such a cool system!
pumped to say our paper "Escra: Event-driven, Sub-second Container Resource Allocation" was accepted at ICDCS 2022! Shoutout to the team for making it happen! Only took 3 years lol @nazari_maziyar@SepidehGoodarzy@hunhoffe@ThePreritOberai@erozner Eric Keller and Richard Han.
On Sat, Oct 30, 10am US/Eastern, to dispel the vast misinformation out there, I will answer questions about applying to US computer science PhD programs. Especially hoping to reach HUGs, students w/out access to research, etc. Please help spread the word!

Another big thanks goes to my spouse @mehunhoff for listening to many rambling "I'm very excited about this research idea" conversations (and for all the other ways he shows support)!
I am very excited (and still a bit shocked!) to receive a 2021 Google PhD Fellowship in Systems and Networking. A huge thanks to my advisor @erozner for all of his support so far! https://t.co/RMakNfZCts
Enjoyed a truly FaaScinating (ha!) day watching the talks at WoSC6 today, as well as presenting my first research talk! Find more about our works & the work of others at https://t.co/CfdsZSBxD4 #wosc6#serverless
Great job by my student @hunhoffe giving her first talk at the Workshop on Serverless Computing (WoSC)! She presented a technique to enable proactive serverless function resource management. Her cat, Wampus (not on twitter), made many special appearances in the slides 😸😹
Check out this awesome logo my student @hunhoffe made for our lab, the CU Boulder Interconnected Systems and Optimized Networks (BISON) Lab. This is so cool! Thanks a million Erika!!! Our slightly-outdated webpage: https://t.co/6fkfU7kT9e
