Hearing stories from historic #AnnArbor through the research, interviews & 1st person reflections of African American leaders made possible by the extraordinary work of @A2CHS students in lifting these powerful voices is a notable & deeply moving step-grateful for the experience!
An awe-filled experience to join @A2CHS BlackHistory #AnnArbor WalkingTour-the work of our amazing @A2schools students & teachers to research & connect w/ JonesSchool alums & historic A2 African American leaders to lift their powerful stories is an important step & deeply moving!
@WakeRevolt, I loved hearing your conversation in the #swattalk from @swarthmore last night. I’m working on a new elective course, History of Race and Resistance in the US, and we’re using your book as an anchor text. Would love to connect!
I'm SO excited to teach a new African-American Studies course. If anyone sees this and is interested/able in buying a copy of Wake: The Hidden History of Women Led Slave Revolts, I'm hoping for a class set. They're on sale for just $15 on Amazon right now: https://t.co/VrFiDhI8uf
"bell hooks reminds us that the beginning of love is truth" - thanks for this important reminder of needing to learn, unearth, and grapple with the hard truths of history in order to truly love, @RuizSealey
"Too much schooling and too little education" - I love thinking about this idea from @MilnerHRich. How can I better focus my efforts in (virtual) school towards the EDUCATION my students need right now?

@mhamiltonedu @Flipgrid @IBnewsatWIHI @AshED_PD@JenWilliamsEdu Such a wonderful group of amazing humans who bring me hope for our shared future! So much love coming across the interwebs from me to y'all right now and always.
Inspired by the work of lots of other wonderful journalists, educators, here's what I came up with to help guide my classes in the coming days. Feel free to use and share. :)

A friendly reminder to students, educators, and families from @BLoveSoulPower today - We are doing something one has ever done before! ... And if we're thinking about justice and love in the middle of a pandemic, we should be hopeful for the future.
I'm working on a proposal for a course called "History of American Racism through Graphic Novels" - What would you want to be sure is included on the reading list? #sschat
@hansilowang just did an informative & meaningful #SwatTalk on the Census & the implications of what's going on with this year's Census in particular. Thanks, @swarthmore & @SwatAlum making this possible. Now to figure out meaningful action steps. #1 is talking to my students.
SE Michigan Math Teacher friends - opening at my (new) school closes tomorrow: https://t.co/XmiAWEp87U - I'd love for you to (virtually) join me at the amazing @A2CHS! Lots of support and help awaits you if you want to join the fun!
@mhamiltonedu We toyed with that idea for a while and my only real idea was to basically teach it like everyone is virtual and then work with f2f Ss to be able to guage things, offer help and additional support, etc. But still have everyone in virtual discussions, groups, work. Idk. Good luck!
@repjohnlewis's steadfast and unwavering belief in young people reminds me why I continue to teach and learn. It higlights how and why we must all respect youth leaders for their ability to move our shared future to be better. #goodtrouble
