After being told she might not be tough enough to play hoops, @GbballLapel's @laniah_wills has more than proved that to not be the case. The state's all-time leading rebounder is now a member of the @indallstars team that will face Kentucky this weekend.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Elwood Athletic Department to Retire Kelsey Armes' Jersey Number.
The Elwood Athletic Department and Head Softball Coach Jessie Mireles are proud to announce the retirement of Kelsey Armes' jersey number, making her the 2nd softball player in Elwood history to receive this honor. Effective immediately, no Elwood softball player will ever wear the number 1 again.
Retiring a jersey is one of the highest honors an athletic department can bestow upon a student athlete, and it is a distinction that is never taken lightly. When the discussion began, however, there was no debate. Kelsey Armes was a clear and unanimous choice.
Throughout her remarkable four-year career, Kelsey shattered numerous school records and established herself as one of the greatest athletes to ever represent Elwood Community Schools. Her accomplishments on the field are extraordinary, but her impact reaches far beyond statistics. Kelsey helped elevate the Elwood softball program to new heights while restoring pride, excitement, and belief throughout the athletic department, school and community.
Her commitment to excellence, leadership, and loyalty to Elwood has left a lasting mark on future generations of Panthers.
Later this summer, Elwood Athletic Department will host a special celebration at Elwood Junior-Senior High School to officially unveil Kelsey's retired jersey, which will be permanently displayed on the walls of the school as a tribute to her legacy and contributions to Panther athletics.
"Kelsey, thank you for staying in Elwood when you had plenty of opportunities to go elsewhere. The pride you showed in representing our community and the way you wore the Elwood uniform will always mean something special to all of us. Your legacy will live on forever in our program and school. We wish you nothing but success in your next journey."
Congratulations, Kelsey Armes, on a truly historic achievement. Your name and legacy will forever be a part of Elwood Athletic History.
