There is no education worth the large amount of money Nigerian elites spend on their infant children, including the adults.

The irony is that after spending millions sending these children to some of the most expensive schools in Nigeria, Britain, America and elsewhere, what exactly do they produce?

Not great surgeons. Not economists. Not scientists. Not engineers. Not researchers. Not industrialists. Not people building institutions or creating anything of consequence for the society their parents supposedly have so much influence over.

Instead, they produce musicians, wack DJs, nonsense writers, fashion people, alcoholics, drug addicts and, at worst, political heirs waiting for their fathers to hand them a political platform so they can continue the family business.

The children of the business elite are no different. Their parents accumulate enormous wealth from the Nigerian economy, yet somehow their greatest contribution to the country is sending their children abroad to consume institutions built by other societies.

This is the absurdity of the Nigerian elite.

Instead of using their wealth and influence to build world class schools, universities, hospitals, research institutions and industries in the country, the same elites whose wealth was largely accumulated from Nigeria would rather spend large amounts purchasing access to institutions elsewhere.

The elites of serious societies build institutions that outlive them. Nigerian elites build mansions, buy private jets, send mediocre children to unnecessarily expensive schools abroad.

You cannot continuously consume the civilisation other people built while refusing to build anything for your own society and then pretend to be an elite.

That is not an elite class.

That is a parasitic class with money.

Elite compete at the top. These ones don’t.

Shekau’s Son Reportedly Emerges in Boko Haram Ranks, Raising Concerns Over Next Generation of Insurgency

Ibn Mohammed bin Shakau, the biological son of the late Boko Haram leader, Abubakar Shekau, is said to have emerged within the ranks of Boko Haram insurgent group, raising fresh concerns over the possible continuation of the ideology and networks associated with his father.

Ibn Mohammed is reportedly taking steps into the militant organisation, following the path of his father, who was one of the most notorious figures in Nigeria’s insurgency in the North-East.

Abubakar Shekau became the leader of Boko Haram after the death of the group’s founder, Mohammed Yusuf, and presided over some of the most violent periods of the insurgency.

Under his leadership, Boko Haram carried out attacks against communities, security personnel, government institutions and other civilian targets across the North-East and neighbouring countries.

Shekau was also known for his uncompromising leadership style and his use of propaganda videos to threaten governments and announce attacks.

His death in 2021 following a confrontation with fighters of the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) significantly altered the dynamics of the insurgency in the Lake Chad region.
