US President Donald Trump declared that the ceasefire with Iran is effectively over, stating, "I think the ceasefire with Iran is over; I do not want to deal with this scum anymore," during his remarks at the NATO summit in Ankara, Türkiye, on July 8.
When asked whether diplomatic talks would resume, the President remarked that Iran "can talk" but emphasised that doing so would be “wasting their time.”
His comments come after the US military conducted a new wave of strikes against more than 80 targets across Iran in the early hours of July 8 in response to Iranian attacks on three commercial vessels transiting the Strait of Hormuz, the US Central Command (CENTCOM) confirmed.
