With profound sadness we can confirm that Firefighter Barry Martin has passed away following the serious injuries sustained during a large fire at the former Jenners building in Edinburgh.

Firefighter Barry Martin suffered serious injuries while responding to a serious and complex building fire in Edinburgh yesterday.

Barry, 38, remains in Edinburgh Royal Infirmary and is in a critical condition.

Our thoughts are very much with Barry and his family at this time.
