Soil moisture just below the lawn and accumulated rainfall in my garden (Reading) for April. Shows a gradual decline and the effect of the 10mm of rain on the 23rd having decayed away. Presumably this would look very different further west where there was more rain..
Really rapid rise in temperature in Reading from around 2C to 11C in an hour or so resulted in our windows misting up on the outside which is a bit unusual.
Fantastic to see some wonderful science & tech experts recognised in this year’s King’s New Years Honours list, including:

I mentioned a risk of disruptive snowfall as we go into the new year, again, there is significant discrepancy in modelling on the positioning of the low, could be as far north as Scotland or as far south as southern England.
Intensity dependent!
I'm getting deja vu.

We are able to see a wildfire along the NJ/NY border from space courtesy of @NOAASatellites. Some of this smoke/haze may be visible further south into NYC. Smaller fires are also faintly visible, one in central Passaic County, one in SE Orange County, one in SW Putnam County.
‼️ Exceptional rainfall intensity during a storm in #Vidauban (83), SE #France.

A reminder that some online snow headlines don't always reflect the reality of the current forecast.
