One of the first things that my son did when he turned 17 was to sign up to be a blood donor.
Last night he gave his first blood donation. I was so proud I asked the staff for a sticker.
He potentially saved someone's life last night.

@MeetZhoushan Brilliant story though my son is actually called Gage Garside, and my uncle was in fact Kenneth Hodkinson. Im Jean Clements although there was another lady called Jean in the trip.
I can say my friendship with Xiaofei and now her son is extraordinary

👭Jean Kathleen Cassidy, niece of Lisbon Maru victim John Weaver, and Wu Xiaofei, descendant of a Dongji fisherman who rescued POWs, have forged a deep #friendship despite language barriers. They exchanged dozens of letters and gifts over the years.

🧣⚽️Jean Clements (Cassidy’s son): “I heard he’s a big football fan!” So he gifted a scarf to Wu Xiaofei’s son, Xu Chenhang. Both families hope this cross-cultural bond endures and that China-UK relations continue to strengthen.
