Nakhh by Mohiuddin Reshi is a moving Kashmiri short story full of profound poignancy & deep insights into our society, and human condition. The story hits me hard every time I read it. Here is my crude attempt at reciting it.
Volume on the higher side recommended. #Kashmir
at an airport, the basharat peer [in haider] scene played out unwittingly , checked thrice with the sentry and reconfirmed whether he actually didn’t want to frisk me.
Actually, talaashi ki itni aadat ho hi gyi hai.

“The tears we shed for our Imam Hussain (AS) are not just tears of grief, but also of pride. Pride that we are the followers of the great grandson of the Prophet (SAWW), who sacrificed everything for the truth.”
A dotless Kashmiri poem by one of the best contemporary poets in Kashmir, Ali Shaida. He has used the takhallus "علی" instead of his usual "شیدا" in this poem for the obvious reason.
In the 19th century we had this tradition in the genre of Kashmiri marsiya- of writing a Bey-Nuqta (Dotless) marsiya. The first one was written by Munshi Safdar Ali Khan (d. ~1850's), followed by Mulla Hakim Hassan Ali (1873-1916). Maybe we have other examples in Kashmiri?
The most we can hope for from Ivy Leagues and tenured professors is a conference 20 years from now in Charlottesville titled 'Post-Gaza Genocide Arab Literature: The Decolonial Poetics of Loss and Remembrance.'
In 1500, Muslim scholar Mohammad al-Yayyar was given a choice: convert to Christianity or flee his homeland
He fled.

Despite the restrictions placed on JKNC Vice President @OmarAbdullah, which denied him security vehicles and ITBP cover, he chose to walk from his home to the Nawai Subh office. His purpose was to address the party workers who had gathered there to pay their heartfelt tributes to the 1931 Martyrs.
Im under house arrest for wanting to visit Martyr’s graveyard today. This at a time when GOI has used its tall claims of normalcy in SC to justify an act of betrayal- the illegal abrogation of Article 370. BJPs own heroes Vir Sarvarkar, Shyama Prasad Mukheriji ,Gowalkar & Godse who spread hatred & divison can’t be forced on us. For us those who sacrificed their lives for democracy to take root in J&K will always be admired for their act of courage. We won’t allow you to distort our history or forget our heroes. On the occasion of Martyrs day, I salute their courage for valiantly fighting against despots to the end.
I asked Ngũgĩ if there’s such a thing as good colonialist.
“Oh my God,” he said. “There’s no such thing. Colonialism is a system. It doesn’t matter if you’re carrying a gun or a Bible, you’re still a colonialist.” He laughed.

Dhakké, a short story by Mohiuddin Reshi is a perfect depiction of one of the bitter realities of our society; mistreatment & abandonment of parents.
Here is my attempt at reading the short story for you. Volume on the higher side recommended. #Kashmir#parents#shortstory
