After a lot of blood (including some from me due to psychotic blue tits), sweat and tears, our comparative study of the plasma metabolome in forest and urban tits is out! @Biology_LU

Hot off the press! My first venture into the world of #MHC genes linking rarity and expression, supported by great co-authors, in @RSocPublishing#ProcB

@Jannerbirder@Alexander_Lees@_Jni_@JackShutt8 We only studied great tits, but it would be interesting to look at how feeding affects immune responses of marsh and coal tits, which were also numerous at our feeders. Willow tits present, but they don't come to the feeders.
We are looking for Senior editors to join the @Oikos_Journal team - are you one of them? Happy to meet up at #BES2023 for a chat about this, @NordicOikos and our journals!
📢 Call for papers: one month until the deadline...
Special issue: Thermoregulatory and Metabolic Adaptations in a Changing World 🌍🌡️
Remember to submit your paper by 15 January 2024!
@Alexander_Lees@euroak Great tits will continue to be the focal study species for mechanistic studies, but it could be interesting to look at wider community effects.
@euroak@Alexander_Lees Indeed, tolerant birds could become “superspreaders” and feeders could facilitate transmission. The next steps for this project are to better understand mechanisms of tolerance and transmission linked to feeding.
How can feeders help birds fight infections? Nice @ConversationUK article covering our study on supplementary feeding and fever #ornithology@hydrobates1 @Biology_LU

After 7 years, it is time for me to step down from the @datadryad board. It has been very rewarding to see Dryad grow into the professional leader in #opendata it is today. A warm welcome to the new directors!
In Sweden, the #PhD defence is a wonderful celebration of the student’s achievements, shared with colleagues, friends and family. Here, the opponent @evotobi opens the discussion with the respondent, Sam Mellinger @Biology_LU @lunduniversity#MHC
A pleasure to welcome @evotobi from @unihh to @Biology_LU and hear about #MHC and optimal immunity ahead of his role as opponent for Sam Mellinger’s #PhD defence today
