A solemn day to mark the Armenian Genocide, and Holocaust Remembrance Day yesterday. And not only is the truth of the past often unrecognized, but today we seem determined to repeat the mistakes that allowed such atrocities.
⚡️Azerbaijan's defense and security budget expenditures have been increased by $1.02 billion, reaching roughly $4.94 billion.
''The large-scale militarization policy pursued by Armenia has made it necessary to increase our country's defense and security expenditures and further enhance our defense capability.''
This was stated by Azerbaijani Finance Minister Samir Sharifov during today's discussion of the state budget in parliament.

#RTLMatin

1/6 The preamble of Azerbaijan's Constitution makes a reference to the constitutional act adopted on October 18, 1991. This constitutional act, in its turn, makes a reference to the Declaration of Independence of the First Republic of Azerbaijan, adopted on May 28, 1918.
🇦🇲 #Armenia is launching production of multi-component semiconductor and silicon photonic chips! A partnership was signed with Levi Semiconductors. This brings Armenia (first in the South Caucasus) into the global tech stage.
To put it simply, semiconductors are materials that can control electrical currents in ways that we want. Essentially, these are chips that are essential for modern electronics because they allow devices process information, manage power, and connect to each other.
So, what are multi-component semiconductors and silicon photonic chips? Semiconductors are the backbone of modern electronics, powering devices like smartphones, computers, and even cars. Multi-component means they integrate different functions into a single chip, making tech faster and more efficient.
To make these semiconductors/chips, we start with silicon, which is cleaned and shaped into thin, flat discs called wafers. In special labs called “fabs”, tiny pathways are drawn onto these wafers, which allows electricity to flow in specific patterns. These patterns is what makes the chip to perform a specific task/function. When electricity flows in a certain pattern, it tells the chip to perform tasks, like showing a picture on a screen or connecting to the internet. Afterward, the wafers are cut into small chips, tested to make sure they work, and then packaged so they’re ready to power our devices.
Silicon photonic chips, on the other hand, use light instead of electricity to create those patterns and transmit data. This technology is groundbreaking for high-speed data centers, AI, and next-gen internet. By starting production, Armenia makes one little but important step towards tech independence, aiming to join an elite group of nations at the cutting edge of innovation.
In the post-Soviet space, only a few countries like Russia and now Armenia are stepping into semiconductor production. This positions Armenia among advanced tech players, enhancing both economic and technological sovereignty.
Climate activist Greta Thunberg labelled the move to hold the COP29 climate talks in Azerbaijan "absurd" on Monday as she joined a demonstration against the summit being held in Baku.

A groundbreaking discovery was made in the historic #Armenian region of #Tosp (#Van), modern day #Turkey, where archaeologists uncovered a massive 2,800-year-old basalt statue from the ancient #Urartian civilization. Weighing one ton and measuring two meters long, this find—near Ayanis Castle—highlights the advanced artistry of the Urartians, ancestors of modern Armenians. Though the statue is damaged, experts are now studying it to uncover more about this powerful civilization’s culture and legacy.
