#claim I think it is important to have representation as well as political activism across all media platforms. Comic books reach a different audience than music, which reaches a different audience than TV, and so on #engl3246
#engl3246 I also liked how it gave us a chance to have back-and-forth dialogues with our classmates despite it being an online class. It was more personal than using the discussion forums on D2L like most classes do it & I felt as though I learned more about other perspectives
#engl3246 I'm glad we had the opportunity to use Twitter in this class because I had never really used it before but I know it'll most likely be important in my line of work. So it was great to have a more informal chance to familiarize myself with its features
@coopbohm1 I think that by giving young Muslim girls an icon to look up to, Marvel will attract more readers in this demographic. I think it will introduce more readers to comic books who previously didn't have any characters they identified with #engl3246
@AlexisR22294691 I agree, while I was aware of activism through things like music and movies, I never thought about spreading awareness of issues through mediums like comic books. It makes sense though, because it reaches a whole different audience of people #engl3246
@sano0768 I don't think comic books have the same reach that celebrities have. However, I think they do have a large reach and reach a different audience than celebrities might. Perhaps teaming up with celebrities could help them to create dialogue btwn the 2 audiences #engl3246
@_chrishaynes So, of course a Muslim superhero is going to be anti-Trump. That does not make her un-American. She is representing her community, which has been beyond disrespected and hurt by Trump's ignorance/bigotry/etc #engl3246
@_chrishaynes Trump has caused huge problems for the Muslim community in America, in particular with his Muslim ban, which has incited waves of anti-Muslim behavior and discrimination among US citizens #engl3246
@_chrishaynes#synths It is unfortunate that many children today are growing up with Trump as their president and seeing the fear and hate that he projects into the world and against others #engl3246
@_chrishaynes#synths I think a lot of the problems we are facing in this country today could be avoided if more children were exposed to different cultures and taught acceptance, rather than fear, at an early age #engl3246
