31 is kind of a serious age. at 30 you can be like whoops where did the time go? but at 31 it’s like… you’ve known you’re 30 for a year you don’t have excuses now
I’m really disappointed that the new pinkpantheress goes “you’re hot on fire, that’s why I’m going tonight” and not “your house on fire, that’s where I’m going tonight” because that’s a much cooler lyric
I find myself returning to it time and time again. Finally, I wonder- what if the relationships in my life could be like this? Is that what I’m missing? How many times have I experienced love like that? What keeps me from recognizing and seeking it? From embodying it for others?
I think music is like true love. You do not have to do anything for music. You can simply show up, listen to it, and that gives it form, a place to live, an entire life to soundtrack. You do nothing, it takes nothing, yet it still washes over you and finds new life endlessly.
You see yourself in it, it illuminates all that is hidden and dormant, it provides perspective beyond experience, you grow through it, it provides depth, context, and meaning. And thus, both are irreversibly changed by the other. It’s the ultimate unconditional reciprocity.
@malkyyyyy lmao at the apple keyboard randomly shoved in the rack under the console. it's very cool he's a gearhead to this extent but I'll never understand building a setup where using a mouse+keyboard seems like the biggest pain in the ass in the room
@szgoldner I get what you're saying from an aesthetic/marketing standpoint but I honestly don't like the new oklou much. I think caroline polachek's last album is a lot better musically but also they're extremely different and not necessarily two albums I'd compare.
having finally tried all elektron boxes I feel certain that the FX as sends + rollback of their philosophy re: routing and modularity was a big mistake. it made sense for the analogs given their architecture, but it should have stayed w them & has neutered their newer boxes imo.
also why the digitone and syntakt don't stack up in terms of sound imo. tried a syntakt recently and was shocked at how flat it sounded. doesn't "talk back" the way a good instrument should. digitone is better but lack of FX and shaping options made it not so interesting for me.
now that I own a MnM I wish I could go back in time and tell myself to skip buying cheaper gear hoping it'll fill the same gap. it is true that nothing can replace it except maybe the octatrack. elektron's analog stuff is also very good but it's a diff palette w/ diff pros & cons
M8 is the closest modern equivalent but IMO it doesn't have nearly the depth of MnM's engine in terms of gain staging + response to level manipulation in the signal path. now that I've used it this is what makes the "MnM Sound" - the engines alone aren't really that special.
also to clarify what I mean by “bitch-made production” please tell me the vibe doesn’t get sucked out of the room soon as the verse hits. why does the piano and 303 sound like that. please channel some power ffs. I’m fr about to make a music producer equivalent of this pic
still I like the vision, Gaga seems excited which makes me excited, and I’m excited for the album esp with one of my dads (gesaffelstein) on board, but someone did not understand the assignment here. the chorus IS that good tho.
IMO it’s an inelegant fusion of Gaga’s theatrics and current arrangement trends. worst of both worlds in that regard. a chorus intro in a song pushing 4 min is fucking stupid. it’s the only part of the song that carries tho. Aura was how you arrange an idea like this properly.
logging in bc I have thoughts on abracadabra. the chorus is sick as fuck but the song+structure itself doesn’t do it at all for me. total nothing verses and while I like the refrain it feels shoehorned as the rest of the track doesn’t keep up. way too much bitch-made production.
