Back in June my real low point was when my daughter (she's 5) needed help with something and I ran over to her (as all dads should rush to their daughter's call). I had no shirt on. I'm pretty sure she was grossed out by me. She said "ahhh i dont want to see your body" and was like legitimately taken aback that i didn't have a shirt on, appalled by my appearance-putting her hands up as if to shield herself. It hurt, I felt awful. A monster even.

Fast forward 2 months, I'm 30lbs down. My daughter caught me with my shirt off again...she smiled & giggled: "Dad you look like a gorilla but stronger".

For a long time, I thought I was broken. That the 24-year-old Marine...yoked, six-pack, getting snatched up for photo ops 😂...was gone forever.

Maybe he is.

But as long as I’m alive, I have to try.

Not 2 become the old me, but 2 build the best version of who I am now.

A dad who can play with his kids without feeling gross. Who can tie his shoes without pain. Who leads his friends and family by example.

I can’t rewind life, erase injuries, or stop getting older.

But I can keep fighting. Keep growing. Keep showing my kids there’s always hope for a better tomorrow.

Maybe the goal was never to get the old me back.
