It would be cheaper for most people and overall as a total amount spent on healthcare because of reduced administration cost, no advertising, no stock buybacks.

@MIZ45TB @GrattiChuck @McPoyle @elonmusk Fear of cost when seeking healthcare means free at the point of service, so no copays, or deductibles to meet. Your taxes pay for it completely, no worry about medical debt. Most Drs are already paid in part by Medicare and Medicaid patients which are federally funded programs.

@MIZ45TB @GrattiChuck @McPoyle @elonmusk On the college/trade school side of things. Yes it costs more up front, but the returns on an educated populace can’t be understated on nearly every front. That is why free at the point of service K-12 education exists to begin with.

Private insurance spend 17% on administration. Medicare spends around 3-5% on administration cost. /3?

@GrattiChuck @McPoyle @MIZ45TB @elonmusk Im not assuming anything, but more people will go to college/trade school/community college if it’s free, and more people will be healthy because of a lack of fear of cost when seeking care and in situations that currently are cost prohibitive.

Because a healthy population is more productive for everyone, also because the current US system focuses on curative care which is more profitable for pharma and hospitals than preventative care.

@jpz0883 @Bebomac5 @mainely_Sota @BernieSanders That is average not median. The same issue comes up when you talk about average household income there is a significant positive skew. That’s also why I mentioned not just housing, but also mentioned the price of other goods.
