The heck. JMA's 18Z model suggests that STY #Mawar may reach minimum sea-level pressure of 886 hPa within five days as it nears the Luzon landmass (not landfall).

Look at those isobars! I've not seen this model with forecast run of such low pressure!

Based on RSMC Tokyo's database, the last tropical cyclone in the basin with pressure of below 890 hPa was Megi in 2010 with 885 hPa. In comparison, Haiyan (2013) peaked at 895 hPa.
