Did you know they cut this Pokémon gym member from the game?

Back in 1996 Pokémon Red & Green were released, and to this day we know the order of the gym leaders, starting with Brock, and ending with Giovanni. But this wasnt meant to be the case.

In 2015, the original artist of the Pokémon, Ken Sugimori, posted his sketch designs for the gym leaders he originally had. These drawings had tiny numbers underneath them, and underneath Brock was 2, Misty was 3, and so on.

So that means there was meant to be a completely different order to battle the gym leaders, but who was meant to be first?

Ken Sugimori then posted a second image of a young boy for the files names Yujirou. There was no information on what Pokémon he would use, because this data never existed, but people noticed that he was drawn in the exact same pose that Giovanni was.

But as we all know, the Viridian Gym we see in the game is locked until the last gym battle, which Giovanni has the key to, so was Veridian meant to be the first gym we battled all along with Yujirou?

The Nintendo 64 was truly revolutionary because it established many of the fundamentals of 3D game design that are still used today. Wave Race 64 is a jet ski racing game, and its wave simulation was absolutely incredible for its time. The way the jet ski reacts to the constantly changing waves is so realistic that it’s still impressive even by today’s standards.
