#Roadto100: Construction of the Nürburgring 💚
And from now on, we’ll be taking a look at the track as it took shape, bit by bit!
🌳Let’s start with the Südschleife:
Shortly after the future starting point near Nürburg, the planned route ran south-west towards Müllenbach.
The route was laid downhill here, passing through, amongst other things, a series of treacherous bends in the Bränkekopf area, which were later also known as the ‘Hexenkurven’ (Witches’ Bends).
Curiously, during the construction of the circuit, the remains of a Roman dwelling were found in the ‘Aschenschlag’ section, just past the 2-kilometre mark, which earned the section the nickname ‘Hüsgen’.🛞
ℹ️ The Nürburgring opened in 1927. On our #Roadto100 we will continue to look back on key milestones in our long history as we approach our big anniversary year! Read more details about it here: https://t.co/YG1SWEQRs7
