The use of the term "young male" has been banded about. It strikes me as dehumanising. Let's call it as it is, they're children, and the state has failed them. We use these terms to wash our hands of our responsibility for them.
Very thankful for the opportunity to present our study at @EP_GenderEqual today.
I reiterated the potential the DSA holds in addressing gender based harms on social media and the need for strong monitoring and enforcement to ensure it reaches this potential.
Dr Debbie Ging @debbieging and Dr Kirsty Park @hypertextlife appeared before the European Parliament in #Brussels today @Europarl_EN to answer MEPs questions their report on 'The impact of the use of social media on women and girls'.

In a statement today, @TwitterSafety defended Twitter’s recent record on antisemitism in the face of multiple reports evidencing a rise in antisemitism on the platform by claiming antisemitic slurs have decreased on Twitter since its acquisition. https://t.co/NOtVXk65ME
How often do people get incorrect legal, financial or medical advise from chatbots? Defamatory content? Toxic or biased outputs? How often do bad actors use gen AI to create disinfo or CSAM?
We don't know.
The risks debate is happening in a data vacuum.

Unfortunately, my primary and secondary education were entirely ACE. Nice to see some research confirming how poor the curriculum is in terms of science education. This article doesn't even touch on how horrendously it covers LGBT or social issues.

If you want to read exactly what is covered in the Code and look at any of the signatory reports from earlier this year then check out https://t.co/wF7WCvB2Fx
I'm seeing lots about the Code of Practice along the lines of 'the EU is trying to control speech'. The CoP is all about transparency. Commitments are things like detailing policies and procedures, providing data around how they're enforced, providing more tools for users, etc...
Twitter leaves EU voluntary Code of Practice against disinformation.
But obligations remain. You can run but you can’t hide.
Beyond voluntary commitments, fighting disinformation will be legal obligation under #DSA as of August 25.
Our teams will be ready for enforcement.
You want to know how a platform with hundreds of millions of users determines what you see, what it removes, how it handles false information, how open it is about these procedures?
Well instead of getting answers you're probably going to see more silence and poop emojis.
