Regarding recent events.

Everyone arguing ETH vs L2 scaling.

Meanwhile @trondao quietly became the stablecoin payments king and nobody talks about it.

I dug into the flows.

In 2025 alone, ~$7.9 TRILLION in USDT transfers moved through Tron.

That’s $20–30B every single day.

Not whales.
Not yield farmers.
Not DeFi loops.

This is mostly sub-$1K transfers.
Over half of all global retail USDT transfers under $1K happen on Tron.

And it’s mostly wallet → wallet, not contracts.

Translation:
People aren’t farming.
They’re using stablecoins as money.

Where?

India
Nigeria
Vietnam
Brazil
Pakistan
Indonesia

Places where stablecoins =
• savings account
• dollar access
• payment rail
• inflation hedge

Ethereum stablecoins?
Deep in lending, perps, swaps, leverage loops.

Tron stablecoins?
Raw dollar movement.

ETH optimized capital efficiency.
Tron optimized getting dollars from A to B cheaply.

Now the part nobody models:

If average fee per transfer is even ~$0.10…

$7.9T in volume = billions of transactions →
~$790M+ annual fee capture just from USDT flows.

That’s not narrative.
That’s payment infrastructure scale.

And here’s why L2s aren’t winning this (yet):

Tron didn’t win with “tech”.

It won with distribution:

• It’s the cheapest USDT withdrawal option on major exchanges
• In emerging markets, exchanges = the main wallet
• It expanded region by region across SEA, Africa, LATAM, MENA
• It leaned into USDT liquidity, not ideology

Stablecoin usage looks totally different outside crypto Twitter.

Less “DeFi composability”.
More “send dollars to family”.

If L2s want stablecoin payment volume, they need:
1.Regional execution, not just dev grants

Stablecoins aren’t just DeFi collateral.

They’re becoming the shadow USD payment system.

And right now, Tron is the chain most people are actually using for it.
