We ran from John Council’s plantation in Bladen County, NC, east of the Cape Fear River, on the night of Sept. 4, 1863. He started advertising for us, dead or alive, when he didn’t find us after a week. We may have headed to the Union forces at New Bern. Our names are UNKNOWN.
