That's how you do ballads right and he is not even in his best condition here
Ballads involve minimal backtrack and there are no overpowering instruments. A test of quality vocals cos here it is exposed and it is the focus
Abit of a critical post about ODE, but I insist on sharing my thoughts because I think its about time someone bring this up ๐ซฅ
I have not once, twice but on multiple occasions, seen people complaining or criticising about Donghae and Hyukjae reusing materials for their upcoming fancons, fan meetings, events etc.
Here is a very harsh truth that everyone needs to understand: I stand on ODEโs side on reusing materials, especially photoโs/pictures for event posters.
The reason being simple. Itโs cost effective.
For smaller agencies like ODE, everything new is money. Asking from SM for their own pictures sound simple from our POV. Contractually, that is money. Because it is an asset own by SM and not owned by ODE. Neither Donghae and Hyukjae could just cut and paste any old material (or even there are any unpublished material from SM) on their own promotional material.
For a simple photoshoot, it costs a crazy amount. Styling, visual conceptualising, makeup, studio preparation and props, concepts, post shoot editing, material selection. Itโs also mentally very taxing on Hyukjae as the person who has to make executive decisions on everything. Arguably, sure, itโs part of his job at ODE. Money wise, it involves consensus from Donghae and all shareholders too. Are they willing to risk such a big budget for a whole new concept? Or is it much more logical to re-use good assets that they already have and put it into a creative twist?
I have worked at marketing and advertising agencies in the past and to be very honest with you, I have seen clients reuse the same picture set for promotional materials and they even rotate a batch of photo assets throughout the year with creative twists. As long as the promotional message is clear and does not breach any form of copyright regulations, itโs fine.
And to be also very honest, marketing itself is a big expense for any company that rely on it to generate revenue. For ODE, I reckon they would and should focus more (not limited to money, time and human resources) on other things that matter more such as promoting events, safety preparation of concerts, fan experience during fanconโs and fanmeetโs, vendors, album concepts and ideations, music making, A&R, equipment, staffing and re-investing extra profits since they are still at an infancy of a startup. Photo materials for events that occurโs every couple times per quarter, adds up and can be secondary for now.
Donโt forget, ODEโs building is still underway and CAPEX is not fun to navigate through ๐ซ ๐ซ
For us as Annieโs/ELFs and fans, I think being supportive to their journey and leaving positive comments is a great form of encouragement. Theyโre learning and growing everyday and to be honest, none of their fanconโs or fanmeets are boring and itโs super interactive and they even prepare a lot of things for the fans that attend and I have never been disappointed as a second hand concert-goer (Iโm only saying this because I am a broke corporate slave who can only slave by social media for updates) and I can feel their energy, sincerity and happiness from my tiny screen. It is not easy for a duo (or even soloist) to fill an entire stage by themselves as compared to a team. One mistake and all eyes are on you. One awkward move and everything is on the artist. Both Donghae and Hyukjae doesnโt need any of that anymore. They have been active for 21 years now and their professionalism is not to be even questioned anymore.
As for a lot of people complaining that there is no livestream (?), I do hope there is but even if there isnโt, I think Iโm okay with it. Perhaps itโs not announced yet and still needs some time (?) Just imagining the cost of hiring the equipment and camera operator, audio technicians separate from the event operations itself is a headache already. I mean, regardless of the outcome. I think itโs up to them to make the decision. ๐คทโโ๏ธ
Anyway, I AM VERY EXCITED FOR THIS SERIES OF FANCON ๐โค๏ธโ๐ฅ๐ฐHYUKJAE, ๋๋ฌด์ํ๋ค!

A reporter asked how fans could catch his attention โ
Kyu said he likes girls simply tide their hair to a ponytail, not too flashy~
And just when the host thought he was done, he added,
โOh, and as for male fansโฆโ
He thought for a moment and said he likes when guys naturally brush their fringe back โ then smiled shyly (since he loves doing that himself too).
In short, no matter male or female,
Kyu loves that natural and elegant aura.๐
Simple is best๐ฅฐ
