Some drawings seem reluctant to remain drawings. I’m beginning to suspect a few of these would rather become sculptures—whether hewn from marble or born through a 3D printer.
Anyone familiar with either medium?
A point of correction my good man: Lincoln did not create the two part system, fractures started to appear during Washington’s presidency and within his own cabinet owing to polarizing concerns related to the federal government’s purview and power. Hamilton and Adams were federalists while Jefferson and company were anti-federalists. Jefferson led the formation of the Democratic Republican Party - against the vision Washington had for the country.
By contrast, many decades later, with the rise and fall of a handful of iterations of political parties, Lincoln entered the scene and was a member of the Republican Party, a party formed by former Whig party members and Abolitionists. Nearing the end of the civil War, Lincoln was the boldest voice for reconciliation between North and South and party differences. Indeed, even within his own party he skillfully navigated and rallied extreme and adversarial positions.

the hand evolves from primal mark
to metropolitan myth.
Every line a century,
every crease a destiny.
The first hand spoke in ash and shadow;
this one speaks in towers and streets.
Civilizations rise in its palm
fate etched where past and future meet.
