A viral effort to revive Spirit Airlines is picking up momentum just a week after the budget carrier shut down.

TikTok creator Hunter Peterson says his campaign has already drawn more than $335 million in pledges after launching a website aimed at saving the airline.

Peterson has suggested that, with enough public backing, the airline could be brought back under a new model: “We nationalize Spirit Airlines, owned by the people… we make a new airline.”
