The Int'l Collab on Mycorrhizal Ecological Traits studying fungal spore dispersal & impact of mentorship. Uni of York, Uni of Edin, Dartmouth, Ada Lovelace Day.
Doing science outreach through creative writing isn't always as straightforward as it sounds. We're adjusting our plans for the #Fieldwork sitcom project because of changes in TV commissioning – it's getting harder to get comedy commissioned: https://t.co/R9eJ0TywGj
Getting back into Fieldwork by sprinkling a little improv over the project. It can be a bit challenging to switch gears from event organisation to creative writing, so I'm hoping that the immediacy and spontaneity of improv will help!

Now that Ada Lovelace Day is over for another year, I can turn my attention back to my Fieldwork short film project – https://t.co/SeJuZvg2W0
Time to lightly edit the last interview transcripts so that I can get post-interview consent, and get my head back in that space.
Was discussing the accuracy of Zoom transcript with an interviewee recently, and today the transcript has made my point for me:
"I was talking to someone the other day about Pete Boggs. And it kept being Pete. As in the name."
Peat. Bogs.
After a half dozen interviews about fieldwork, I'm starting to see some themes: Keys getting lost/left behind and wellies getting stuck/lost in soggy ground being two! I'm still looking for more ecologists to interview - get in touch if you'd like to chat

What's it like to work as an ecologist in the field? Have you ever had a #fieldworkfail? What would've made it go as planned? What's the funniest/weirdest thing that's ever happened? We'd love to hear from you as we research our short film. Find out more: https://t.co/CcuhqzPnvs

We are really excited to be running ALD Live in-person again this year, for the first time since 2019's amazing show, and we're incredibly grateful to the Ri, Stylist and our other sponsors for their support.
So please join us and help us kickstart a new future for ALD. 🚫🧵
Substack also provides an awesome membership option, so if just 2% of our followers here become donors on Substack, we'll have a stable base from which to grow. More on that once it's properly set up! (Right now you can join for free and pledge your support). 🧵
We are also relaunching our newsletter on Substack, where we hope to develop a new community of and for women in STEM.

We'll be migrating our ALD Weekly newsletter over to the new Substack and will be expanding the breadth of content we post. 🧵
You can find out more about our announcement on our blog: https://t.co/jkir431vVh
We do still need to find some more sponsors to secure our future, so if your company might like to join the amazing businesses supporting women in STEM, please get in touch. 🧵
We have fabulous news! Ada Lovelace Day is BACK, thanks to @Ri_Science, @StylistMagazine, @digitalsci, @redgate & @dxw!
We'll be holding #ALD Live at the Ri on Tues 10 Oct, so save the date now, and keep an eye out for speaker announcements this time next month. 🧵
