🚨POSSIBLE CHANGE IN COMPRESSION RATIO MEASUREMENTS
According to AutoSprint, the FIA has decided to change the way in which compression ratio measurements are carried out
From the Australian GP, these checks will be carried out 'hot' through the static heating of the V6 engine parts
All this will obviously have to go through a vote that will only require 4 out of 5 engine manufacturers
The only opposition would be Mercedes because Red Bull Powertrains, which at first had not signed the letter of protest, is now ready to align itself with Ferrari's line of firmness
@thef1diplomat Everything would expand keeping the ratio the same, if i had to guess Merc were cheating using some type of material in the conrod which would push the piston higher. Otherwise if you use materials like this how can you control in which specific direction it expands in with heat
@freeflow22@archer1301@mmxrie63 Yup exactly, the FIA never said they won’t measure the engine compression at a hot temperature, it was more just a limitation until now, and have found a way to do so.
Can someone give me a instance of someone overtaking off track and not being penalised? Have they gone against every precedent set or is there another example?
@Aldas001 Not an excuse for them but given the wet sessions the tread on the Wet tyres is thicker raising the car ride height compared to the slicks if for some reason they kept the same height
@c0nfusedmagyar Think you missed the point, i’m not saying Hulkenberg should be penalised. I’m saying switch back never seems to work lap 1 because of cars behind. They can’t penalise Piastri because they never penalised Sainz is my point. The only options seem to be hold line or get forced wide
Exact same incident happened in 2022.
Result: Russell 5sec penalty
Looks like the switch back never works lap 1, however based on this precedent you cannot blame Piastri for a racing incident although it was always risky. If he goes outside he gets forced off track by Norris
- Norris hits Piastri and almost puts him in the wall for the second time
Crofty: “It’s gloves off racing!”
- Piastri locks up in the vicinity of Norris
Crofty: “Piastri took it too far”
