Scenario: Mark Carney tried to lie to Canadians and got caught. He chalked it up to a Sunday morning at the Stampede and alluded towards maybe it was wearing a cowboy hat that clouded his judgment.

Not sure this is demonstration of learning from mistakes if he keeps repeating the same mistake, here are 2 examples that came to mind:
1. Said the decision to move Brookfield HO to NYC was after he left the company, board minutes confirmed that was a lie.
2. During election campaign he said he owned 'nothing but cash and personal real estate'. Later ethics disclosures showed he held interests in more than 100 companies.

I guess when you blindly worship a leader there is no circumstance your respect for him will dissipate.
