I think it was in Season 1 episode 1 or 2, when Clark wanted to leave his adopted mom and travel to the city to go work for Daily Wire.

"The good mother necessarily fails" was made flesh in the scene where they both sat at the bench and talked a bit before Clark boarded a bus.

She knew her son had to leave her, in order to become who he was meant to be, as Clark and as Superman.

Clark, on the other hand, didn't look back because that move was for his growth and success.

There and then, it struck me, as a father but I smiled, regardless.

What was it? I am glad you asked.

I realized that one day, despite all that effort, my kids, will want to become someone in society, and I have to step aside and let that happen.

All the sacrifices that I had to go through, for them, won't matter.

They will defile, betray, and annoy but also respect, love, care and honour me, as their father.

Children, eventually, grow to become selfish adults and it's a necessity because that way, they thrive and survive.

Some sons will disappoint their mothers and some daughters, their fathers.

But that support and love must always be there, even with all the hurt, they mete out to you, as a parent.

It is the way of the world. Your parents did it for you, and you must do it, for your kids.

And nope, you weren't such a "sweet" child, so don't for a second, think that, your child has to be sweet to be entitled to that parental love.

Otherwise, don't have them.

Some days ago, a random user texted me and wanted my help in raising money for their child who had a hole in their heart.

I ignored the message at first but my spirit asked me to dig in and see where that was going.

I engaged the account and it turned out that the person was the mother of the said child and she sent me a 6 months video of her child in pains.

I felt empathetic to their plight and decided to put out a message requesting for volunteers that would help verify the woman's story.

The reason for doing that was because of how people tend to use children to swindle others into sending them money for them to splurge and flex on.

I was skeptical and didn't want to involve myself in anything that would affect my reputation or betray people's trust in me.

@chukwuma___ volunteered himself and the woman provided her contact details.

He went directly to visit them at their house in Ikotun, the same day he volunteered, after I had sent him the woman's contact details.

He was the one who helped me to obtain the video of the woman and her daughter along with the woman's son who I didn't show but they were all in the sitting room.

She's married but Nigeria is happening to her and her family.

From their conversation they will be needing ₦15,000,000 to perform surgery on the little girl.

I asked for the medical records and it was provided which I had to run it through the kind and magnificent doc @the_beardedsina just so nothing is amiss.

What Truly Should Be Our Priority Now as Leaders of a Nation?

This question has become necessary, given where we are today as a nation and where we are supposed to be.
While completing my INEC nomination form yesterday, Section E, Question 1 caught my attention. It asks: “Have you ever been adjudged a lunatic or been declared a person of unsound mind?” The answer is either Yes or No. That question got me thinking: Can we, as the political leaders of today’s Nigeria, truly say we are exhibiting the characteristics of a sound mind?

When Nigerians, including children and security personnel, are being abducted into the bushes, citizens cannot travel safely on our highways, several million Nigerians are uncertain where their next meal will come from, and several billions are being siphoned frivolously through non-existent agencies and projects, should politics really be our primary preoccupation?

A sound-minded leadership would have declared these existential challenges a national emergency and immediately mobilised all relevant institutions, security agencies, experts, community leaders, and other critical stakeholders to confront them with urgency and resolve. At a moment like this, the survival, security, and stability of Nigeria must take precedence over every other consideration. This is a time for decisive action, not political calculation or the pursuit of partisan advantage.

Further in the same Section E, Question 6, was: “Have you ever presented a forged certificate to INEC?” Again, the answer is either Yes or No. This raises another important question: Why shouldn’t INEC, in the interest of ensuring that our leaders are exemplary in following the rules and to strengthen public confidence in our electoral process, publish the academic certificates and credentials submitted by every candidate seeking elective office?

Transparency strengthens democracy and builds public trust. Nigeria’s problems are too serious for politics as usual. It is time for leadership defined by competence, character, capacity, compassion, and commitment to service.
