لو سألت معظم الناس: لماذا لا تنجزون ما تتمنون إنجازه؟ لكان الجواب الغالب: لا نجد وقتًا.

لكن اللافت أن الدراسات التي تناولت بيئات العمل الحديثة تشير إلى أن المشكلة ليست في قلة ساعات العمل بقدر ما هي في تشتت الانتباه. فالإنسان المعاصر يتعرض كل يوم لعشرات المقاطعات من رسائل وإشعارات ومكالمات واجتماعات، حتى أصبحت القدرة على التركيز المتواصل من أندر المهارات في هذا العصر.

ومن هنا تظهر مفارقة تستحق التأمل: نحن نعمل أكثر، لكننا لا ننجز بالضرورة أعمالًا أكثر قيمة.

وقد لخص خبير الإدارة الشهير بيتر دركر هذه الحقيقة حين قال: «ليس المهم أن نفعل الأشياء بطريقة صحيحة، بل أن نفعل الأشياء الصحيحة.» فالكفاءة وحدها لا تكفي، إذا كانت تُبذل في أعمال لا تستحق كل ذلك الجهد.

وهذه الحقيقة ليست جديدة في ثقافتنا الإسلامية. فالقرآن لا يدعو إلى مجرد كثرة الحركة، وإنما يوجه إلى حسن توجيه الجهد. يقول الله تعالى: ﴿فَاسْتَبِقُوا الْخَيْرَاتِ﴾، ولم يقل: فاستبقوا الأعمال. فالخير هو العمل الذي يملك قيمة، ويحقق نفعًا، ويستحق أن تُبذل فيه الأعمار.

ومن أكثر ما تعلمته مع مرور السنوات أن كثيرًا من الناس يخلطون بين العاجل والمهم. فالرسالة التي وصلت الآن تبدو عاجلة، لكنها قد لا تكون مهمة. والاجتماع قد يملأ ساعتين من اليوم، لكنه قد لا يضيف شيئًا إلى مشروع الحياة. أما القراءة العميقة، وبناء المهارات، وتربية الأبناء، وصناعة الأفكار، فهي أعمال لا تصرخ في وجوهنا كل صباح، لكنها هي التي تصنع مستقبل الإنسان.

ولعل هذا ما يفسر أن الإنجازات الكبرى في التاريخ لم تكن ثمرة حياة مزدحمة، وإنما ثمرة حياة مرتبة. فالإمام الشافعي لم يصبح إمامًا لأنه كان أكثر الناس انشغالًا، وإنما لأنه عرف كيف يحرس وقته. والإمام النووي ترك هذا التراث العلمي العظيم في عمر قصير نسبيًا، لا لأنه مُنح ساعات أكثر من غيره، بل لأنه أحسن توجيه كل ساعة أُتيحت له.

ولهذا، فإن أخطر ما يسرقه التشتت من الإنسان ليس يومًا أو أسبوعًا، بل قدرته على بناء مشروع طويل المدى. فالإنجازات العظيمة لا تُولد من الأعمال المتفرقة، وإنما من جهدٍ صغير، يتكرر في الاتجاه الصحيح سنوات طويلة.

إن السؤال الذي يستحق أن نفتتح به يومنا ليس: ما الذي سأفعله اليوم؟ وإنما: ما العمل الذي لو واظبت عليه خمس سنوات، لتغيّرت به حياتي؟ فالإجابة عن هذا السؤال تكشف الفرق بين من يستهلك أيامه، ومن يبني عمره.

قد ازددت يقينًا أن الإنسان لا يفشل غالبًا لأنه قليل العمل، وإنما لأنه يوزع عمره على أعمال كثيرة، لا يجتمع منها مشروع، ولا تتكون منها رسالة. أما الذين يتركون أثرًا في الحياة، فقد امتلكوا شجاعة الاختيار، وشجاعة ترك ما هو أقل أهمية، ليمنحوا أعمارهم لما يستحقها.

APPEAL TO THE INTERNATIONAL COMMUNITY

Four Palestinian shepherd communities in the northern Jordan Valley — Al-Farsiya, Ein al-Hilweh, Khirbet Humsa, and Khallet Makhoul — face imminent demolition and expulsion. We call on the international community to urgently press Israeli authorities to prevent irreversible measures against these communities, whose families have lived on this land for generations.

Al-Farsiya illustrates the danger facing the last shepherd communities in the region. In May 2026, the army confiscated the community's water tanks and vehicles, leaving residents without water in the summer heat. Demolition orders followed. The Abu Mohsen family, including a child with special needs, depends on herding and farming — and repeated detentions and confiscations have pushed them to despair.

Al-Farsiya is not an isolated case. Ein al-Hilweh, Khirbet Humsa, and Khallet Makhoul face the same threat. On July 2, 2026, Civil Administration forces demolished structures in Ein al-Hilweh in violation of a court order, while nearby outposts and settlements expand unabated — raising serious concerns under international law, including the prohibition on altering the demographic composition of occupied territory and of ethnic cleansing.

Residents have pursued every available legal channel. But a recent demolition in Ein al-Hilweh occurred despite a judicial order freezing it. Urgent, direct intervention is needed.

We call on the international community to approach Israeli authorities demanding these demolitions be prevented and press for continued access to grazing land, water, and basic living conditions.

These four communities are among the last shepherd communities holding on in the northern Jordan Valley, fighting to remain and preserve their way of life. We call on the international community to act now, before further demolitions become a fait accompli.
