9 years ago today, Apple announced the iPhone X, and it completely changed the way we use smartphones.
Face ID, gesture navigation, the notch, OLED displays, and the whole “all-screen” design language became the blueprint for the next generation of phones.
Still one of the most influential iPhones ever made.

I am 100% convinced that Samsung and other companies will also adopt the new "iPhone Duo" nanotexture screen—the world's first foldable display with a matte finish; this is a smart move by Apple to minimize the visibility of the crease and fingerprints. I have heard rumors that Samsung plans to launch a completely crease-free foldable device next year—one that remains smooth even in bright light or when viewed from an angle. I am certain that, otherwise, Apple would have waited another year or two before releasing the final version of a foldable iPhone. It is estimated that by 2028, foldable screens will be able to evenly distribute the tension generated by folding and unfolding across the entire surface, rather than concentrating it at a single point; this will eliminate the crease, as mechanical wear will be dispersed. Shortly after the Apple event, I learned from an insider source that the first rollable/extendable iPhone is still four years away from launch and will mark the beginning of a new era in foldable device technology; ultimately, Samsung is expected to focus on a tri-fold design, further developing the wide format introduced with the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Z Fold 8 Ultra series.
Things I’ve learned since the iPhone Duo was announced:
- Apple completely cooked the fold market
- John Ternus is him!
- Duo was absolutely correct name
- It’s been a tough week for Samsung
- Apple can in fact still innovate
- RIP iPad mini
- iShowSpeed live streaming was brilliant. Brought back an in person event type feeling
- Duolingo twitter manager is completely unhinged
I absolutely love what Apple did and I can’t wait to try it for myself.
