Yesterday we met with the leadership and staff of Kenya’s National Cohesion and Integration Commission (@NCIC_Kenya) to discuss potential collaboration on the intersection of technology, peacebuilding, diversity, and digital elections preparedness ahead of Kenya’s 2027 elections.
Strengthening partnerships is key to fostering safer and more inclusive digital spaces.

CIPESA, the Danish Institute for Human Rights, and the Kenya National Commission on Human Rights conducted a Human Rights Impact Assessment on the digitalisation of healthcare in Murang’a, Laikipia, Kisii, and Homa Bay counties, including the NHIF(The National Hospital Insurance Fund) to SHIF(Social Health Insurance Fund) transition.

The report examines benefits, challenges, and implications for Vulnerable and Marginalized Groups, and offers recommendations to make digital health in Kenya more inclusive, effective, and rights-respecting.

After seven years in the court corridors, @BakeKenya has finally secured a major victory! The Court of Appeal has declared Sections 22 and 23 of the Computer Misuse and Cybercrimes Act unconstitutional.

But we aren’t done yet. Section 27 remains, and we are prepared to go all the way to ensure it is either amended or struck out entirely. The fight for digital rights continues!

BIG WIN FOR KENYANS! 📷 The Court of Appeal has STRUCK DOWN Sections 22 & 23 of the Computer Misuse and Cybercrimes Act. The vague provisions criminalised "false" & "misleading" data and reintroduced criminal defamation that I participated in striking out. I've opposed this law since 2018.

COA agreed they're too broad, "akin to unguided missiles," & likely to net innocent citizens. Fines up to 5M/10 yrs prison gone for those provisions!

BUT heavy disappointment: Section 27 on cyber-harassment was UPHELD despite its dangerously vague language—criminalising speech "likely to cause apprehension or fear", or that's "grossly offensive" and proceeds to impose a punitive and disproportionate fine of 10M/20yrs.

March 1, 2026, marked a milestone for not just our Founder and Executive Director, @gbengasesan, but also for Paradigm Initiative (PIN) as an organisation. As we celebrate his 19th anniversary as a PINnovator - the first PINnovator, he takes us through three photos that reflect his journey, growth and contribution to PIN’s work.

“This was Paradigm Initiative’s first public event on July 27, 2007. Once I was sure of what the organisation’s goal would be, I designed our first programme to target young people in Ajegunle in Lagos, Nigeria. Before we started the training programme, I visited a group of students at the Yaba College of Technology, in the company of our first volunteer, Ugochukwu Nwosu, and four young Koreans who joined us in the delivery of our first cohort training.

It also happened to be my birthday, but I was happy for PIN to take centre stage because a powerful idea had been born.

Almost 19 years and many team members later, Paradigm Initiative is still fulfilling the original goal, though now with a bigger footprint and more resources.

The third picture shows the latest annual team retreat with some members of the Paradigm Initiative team in Bangkok, Thailand, where we sharpened the vision and renewed our strategy towards doing what we started doing in 2007- working towards a rights-respecting world!"

This week, KICTANet officially kicks off the Enhancing Digital Access and Community Resilience (EDACR) – Basic Digital Skills Training, in partnership with the UK Government Digital Access Programme.

The EDACR project aims to transform at least 200,000 lives across eight ASAL counties — Wajir County, Mandera County, Garissa County, Tana River County, Samburu County, Turkana County, Marsabit County, and Isiolo County.

🎯 Key Targets:

✅ 3,000 youth empowered with digital skills for jobs in IT, agriculture & the gig economy
✅ 7,000+ VSLA members strengthened
✅ 6,000+ Community Digital Champions (CDCs) cascading digital literacy & entrepreneurship skills
✅ Inclusive, gender-sensitive digital service delivery through Community Digital Entrepreneurs (CDEs)

The training covers essential areas including digital devices in the workplace, productivity tools, online work skills, digital entrepreneurship, cyber hygiene, e-waste management, soft & leadership skills, and health & nutrition.
