My hospital has six units on outbreak from Covid, and infection control has instituted mandatory masking and eye protection on all of them. That’s science. Despite skyrocketing community transmission we have not prophylactically instituted a hospital wide policy. That’s politics.
Despite multiple outbreaks on various inpatient units there is no clear hospital mask mandate. In the ICU, all three attending physicians were masked, because we know what’s going on right now.
