Chinese project managers in Ghana, Kenya, and elsewhere said engineers were not up to the task and had to train them afresh.
AFRICA
- Meanwhile, China entered the picture.
Chinese companies undertook the task of upgrading neglected infrastructure or building entirely new bridges, dual-carriage roads, airports, sports facilities, and more.

AFRICA
- Most of Africa's intelligentsia has still never grasped just how radically transformative the Internet is.

On these platforms, it's pure merit and full rights, something our states deny us.
So, how do we use them?
AFRICA
- It should be noted that consistently across the continent, populations place a higher value on people from their own ethnic or religious groups being in government or public office than on the delivery of effective public administration and services.
AFRICA
- If free and fair elections don't necessarily lead to effective, accountable public administration, we then must admit that the problem is rooted in society's choices and preferences. In effect, it suggests that people don't know what they want and what's good for them.
AFRICA
- The least developed of the major inhabited continents. Most observers think it's a lack of democracy. But countries that hold free and fair elections are not much different from those that don't. What, then, is the problem?
This is the subject of today's discussion.
