You know what, retweeting this on my professional twitter because why not. They have since updated and “clarified” their post, but the people of Indianapolis, especially the POC in Indianapolis, deserve an apology from the Indiana State Museum.
Proudest moments this week:
1. My fifth period class wanted to watch a documentary on true crime and cults.
2. One of my students told me that I know a lot about murder.
I used to think using every minute in class for academic purposes was absolutely crucial.
I now value the quality of academic time over the quantity.
Additionally, I now feel if non-academic time is used to grow & develop relationships, academic time vastly improves.
Today is my last day at the museum, and when I walked in I was handed a Great Horned Owl to put in the freezer. It’s stuff like this that makes me realize how much I’ll miss this place!

“Even if you’ve already seen this, you’re now watching this through the eyes of a future teacher.” Man that hit me hard. It’s probably too soon for them to see me cry, right?
