Please don’t start a re opening schools protest called #teacherlivesmatter. It’s offensive to black people and their struggle. I agree that there are a lot of stupid ignorant plans to open school right now but that slogan ain’t it. Especially when 80% of teachers are white.

So excited to hand out our summer reading bags for newcomer and multilingual kindergartners! A student and I recorded ourselves reading each book and glued a QR code inside for students to listen over and over again! #pccsel#SummerReading
Subbed grades for my Health Impacts of Immigration Enforcement class for Winter19 & wanted to brag on some student presentations (w permission). Final assignments were meant to be creative while drawing on research & commenting on portrayal of immigration/law enforcement/ICE.
I am honored to talk about home visits with @MissCourtneyELD today! So invigorating to be in a room full of people who want to do what's best for kids. Let's keep sharing our plans and action around home visits! #MABEMI19#pccsel
Today we welcomed Ss back from spring break& played a favorite oral language game. Ss got a secret true or false card, then shared what they did for break. For the record, Emily's story about riding a horse in Texas was false! She had so much detail and fooled us all. #pccsel
Can't wait to meet our future Multicultural Ambassadors! @MissCourtneyELD and I are using the @Tolerance_org social justice standards as a framework for a new club. We've been reading applications all week and are so excited to get started! #pccsel@BentleyBobcats@kimberose1203
Plant project with newcomers inspired by second grade curriculum, their field trip to @MatthaeiNichols, and a new obsession with Venus Fly Traps! Kids picked a plant native to their home countries or one they love, created a clay model, labeled parts, wrote, and presented!
Our students deserve multiple exposures of factual information from multiple perspectives. What they learn in school builds and shapes their understanding of the world... Even though (especially) is it is "tradition", let's teach it right!
"For far too many students, Thanksgiving stories and celebrations serve as their first introduction to the histories and cultures of American Indians." The latest resources from @tolerance_org are helping teachers get it right.

@MissCourtneyELD @BentleyBobcats@PCCS_Official Kids who celebrate are still stopping by after school to look at the display again. And I hear them explaining it to other kids in the hall. It's awesome!
