FORMER MASVINGO RDC CHAIR INSTALLED AS HEADMAN
Masvingo Minister of State Ezra Chadzamira on Monday officially installed Albert Mangena, former Masvingo RDC chair, as substantive Headman Toringa under Chief Chikwanda at Mara Primary School.
Mangena was appointed on August 3 under Section 8(1) of the Traditional Leaders Act. Chadzamira urged him to unite his community.
JOURNALIST JUDITH NYUKE DIES
Police are investigating a fatal road traffic accident in which journalist Judith Nyuke (39) died after being struck by a Geo Pomona truck along Harare Drive near Art Farm in Pomona, Harare.
The incident occurred at around 3:30 PM on Saturday.
After a gold rush in Bondolfi, Masvingo, Chief Fortune Charumbira met villagers prospecting for gold on July 16 and told them to legalise their operations.
A week later, villagers say, he registered a claim covering the area in his name and began evicting residents.
The villagers are now facing eviction from the land they had been occupying and prospecting on.
🚨 ASHDOWN PARK PROPERTY OWNERS FACE EVICTION
Ninety-six property owners in Ashdown Park Extension, Harare, face eviction and demolition of their homes over disputed land ownership.
Ten have already been evicted. Ward 16 councillor Denford Ngadziore said some residents paid about US$25,000 for stands, while completed properties were valued at US$180,000–US$200,000.
