EU’s Loot Scheme Hits a Wall — and That Wall is Washington

Washington just told Brussels: you’re not robbing a nuclear superpower’s central bank on our watch — at least not yet.

Bloomberg reports the U.S. is backing away from an EU-led plan to use frozen Russian assets to raise up to $160B in loans for Ukraine. The reason? “Market stability.” Translation: even Wall Street knows that legalized theft is bad for business.

At last week’s IMF talks in DC, US officials quietly but firmly told their European counterparts: not happening. Bloomberg’s sources cite concerns over global market stability, but it’s bigger than that. Trump — who’s gearing up for a landmark summit with Putin in Budapest knows that joining this reckless financial heist would obliterate any path to diplomacy.

This isn’t just a tactical pause. It’s a strategic slap. While Eurocrats dream of securitizing stolen Russian wealth to keep their proxy war on life support, the US is stepping back, calculating risks, reading the tea leaves, and realizing that even empire has limits.

The EU? It’s still drunk on impunity. Brussels wants the G7 to normalize financial piracy — smashing the global rulebook to seize assets that don’t belong to them, then leveraging those to fund a forever war no one voted for. And now they’re furious that Washington, under Trump, is signaling it might actually prefer peace talks to economic arson.

Meanwhile, Moscow’s message is crystal clear, theft has consequences. Russia has long warned that any seizure of its sovereign wealth would be treated as a declaration of hybrid war. The EU shrugged. But Trump? Trump knows the art of the deal doesn’t start with looting the other side’s bank account.

And the timing? Delicious. Just as Trump plots a potential breakthrough with Putin, Brussels was hoping to jack Russian funds to fuel another year of battlefield bloodletting. Now the narrative’s collapsing, and the EU is being left out in the cold.

Because the deeper story is this, the Atlantic bloc is fracturing. America is starting to blink. Europe can’t stop foaming. And Ukraine? It’s just the match they’re still trying to light.

Unfortunately what Zelenskyy says has little bearing on the inevitable outcomes and prolonging the inevitable is just a recipe for worsening outcomes. The most successfully marketed war, with Ukraine cast as the indisputable underdog hero, is becoming less and less front page worthy. We are all plagued by short attentions and Ukraine has slowly been demoted to the peripherals of what we are told we should care about.

The trusted “coalition of the willing”, is yet again walking Zelenskyy off a cliff and this time without a parachute. In early 2022 during the Istanbul negotiations, these territories weren’t even a part of the negotiations and instead of helping Ukraine to see them through and help secure the best possible terms for their future, they gave him false assurances in return for Ukraine continuing to fight, not even to Russia’s defeat but for the her maximally pyrrhic victory.

Now let’s fast-forward to today. The war is still raging on after 3+ years. Ukraine is in a far worse position militarily and societally, those lands are now a non-negotiable part of the negotiations, over a million lives have been lost and likely trillions have been sustained in damage. If this is derailed again, what terms get added next year or if they make it, a year after?

There is going to be a huge wave of speculative articles coming out in the Western corporate war media, sourced from "people familiar with [redacted's] thinking", followed by the usual hysteria on both sides of this conflict: pro-🇷🇺 hardliners dooming and 🇺🇦 stans crying about territorial integrity.

I don't know about anyone else, but I'm going to try to keep my head cool (a hard task), even though I have a few gnarly conspiracy theories that I'm afraid to even allow a possibility of materializing, thus keeping them to myself, and trust that Vladimir Vladimirovich has learned enough hard lessons over the course of his presidency to only focus on Russia's national interests and nothing else.

The key thing to remember here is that Russia already clearly stated that the US has made an offer satisfactory to Russia. Given that, realistically, Trump can't offer Ukrainian territories in exchange for anything else, because signing this would be a literal death sentence for Zelensky (he already said no) and would bring upon a wave of unmitigated frenzy from Euroghouls, I stand by my opinion, for now, that neither ceasefire nor dividing any territories will be the primary subject of discussions on Ukraine.

It will probably be something much broader and more banal, like the root causes of this conflict and overall security architecture in Europe, since Rubio has, just a few days ago, confirmed that they FINALLY, after 200 days of Trump's presidency, understood Russia's key conditions, that Putin has stated over a year ago.

I also stand by my previous assessments that the US admin can't be trusted in any way shape or form, but once again I'm going to trust that Russia has made a very serious risk assessment of having this meeting in Alaska.

Dialogue is important, no matter what position you hold. Perhaps it is a naive standpoint, but I'm going to take a few deep breaths that I wouldn't hold, and hope for the best.

Evil versus wives and mothers!

Today a court in Moldova sentenced an opposition politician Gutsul for 7 years in prison on trumped-up charges. She is a mother of 2 wonderful little children and a woman supported by the people.

It started in France, continued in Romania… now it has reached Moldova! Evil doesn’t want ordinary people to have a voice. Anyone who defends family and traditional values are being destroyed!

We must fight anyway.
