Someone once asked me :
What is worse?
Loving someone you can't have or having someone you can't love
I replied,
"The worst is leaving someone you know you will never stop loving "
What is your say about this??
Ghanaian President John Dramani Mahama:
'Security Council reform is not a favour to Africa. It is an imperative for the legitimacy, the credibility and the survival of the United Nations. Africa does not seek charity. Africa seeks equal partnership.'
Sometimes the best conversations happen when you weren’t planning to talk to anyone.
You start with one random topic and suddenly three hours have disappeared. Those moments are underrated 🙂↕️
In the annals of history, there are leaders who come and go, and others who come with a profound vision and purpose that lays the foundation for a lasting legacy.
A few years ago, somewhere between airports and on one of President Mahama’s many trips, he bumped into Nigeria’s former President and now “Champion for everything Africa,” H.E. Olusegun Obasanjo, a man who has long admired and advocated for our own President, John Dramani Mahama.
It was Baba Obasanjo’s view that, in the aftermath of the pandemic, the loss of funding, particularly for vaccine manufacturing, and the subsequent financial crisis, Africa needed a new strategy; a council, or committee, of elders who would sit down and collectively find sustainable solutions to Africa’s challenges. His co-conspirator in this endeavour was President Mahama.
Out of that conversation, the #AccraReset Convening was born — a Head-of-State-anchored initiative championed by President Mahama to rebuild global development cooperation around practical sovereignty, execution capacity and shared prosperity in the Global South and beyond.
The global development system is not in need of incremental repair. It is confronting a structural inflection that incremental reform cannot address. Understanding why this moment is different is the precondition for understanding what the Accra Reset is attempting to accomplish.
On 21 September, President Mahama will once again host a high-level Global Reset Dialogue with other leaders on the margins of the 81st United Nations General Assembly in New York.
