📍 Kyoto, Japan.From the museums of Tokyo to the art galleries of Osaka, and finally to this mirrored city of Kyoto, we have completed a journey of pursuit.
These statues, severed from the landscapes of the Longmen Grottoes in Luoyang, China, found themselves scattered here. They are like wanderers forced to leave their homeland. Once, they stood upon the cliffs, silently watching over the vibrant life of the Luo River valley. Now, separated by vast mountains and seas, they find the road back to their native soil blocked and distant.

ingwei Project: The Digital Return and Global Outreach of Longmen Grottoes.📍 Osaka Municipal Museum of Fine Arts.From the donors of Guyang Cave to the right attendant Bodhisattva head of Binyang Middle Cave; from the 7th-century Buddha head of Jingshan Temple Cave to the 8th-century Buddha head of Fengxian Temple—these stone carvings form a flowing river of time.Though they have been severed from the cliffs of Longmen Grottoes in Luoyang, China, they remain here in Osaka.
