The untimely passing of MNDF’s brave diver, Staff Sergeant Mohamed Mahdhy, while serving the nation on a noble rescue mission, is a profound loss that has brought deep sorrow to the entire nation. We extend our most sincere condolences to the bereaved family. May Almighty Allah bless the soul of the late Mohamed Mahdhy with His mercy and grant him eternal peace in Jannah. We also pray that Allah grants his family patience and strength during this time of immense grief. Ameen
I am honestly shocked after watching this.
A minister going on national TV and sharing what was said on a victim support helpline… just a day after someone died by suicide?
How can we as a country let this be the normal. It’s unprofessional and unethical.
That was someone’s most vulnerable moment. Those conversations are supposed to be sacred, protected, private, safe.
Instead, they were exposed live on TV. Not only does this violate her dignity, it puts out raw, triggering details that can deeply affect others who are already struggling.
Additionally, if this is how confidential helplines are treated, how can anyone else feel safe enough to reach out for help?
Government and ministers are not supposed to stoop to the level of social media gossip groups. Those at the top are meant to set the example, by holding themselves to the highest standards, always.
That didn’t happen here. So I’m asking the media and everyone on social platforms: please take up that responsibility yourselves.
Do not repeat what was said. Do not amplify or share her msgs. Protect what little dignity and trust remains.
When the mother first reached out, Azan was alive, you failed to act.
Eight months later, when you finally responded, Azan was still alive, you refused to take responsibility.
When I first raised this issue, Azan was still alive, you chose silence.
When I raised it again, Azan was still alive, you were silent and no one held accountable
When I brought it up this morning, admitted but Azan was still alive, you still said nothing.
Now Azan is no longer with us, lifeless body buried and you are still silent and whoever responsible is freely roaming around.
So I am asking you again, @NSPAmaldives & @stoplc , when will you speak up?
When will you hold those responsible accountable? How much longer do you need?
How many more need to suffer before you admit failures and fix those?
Do not, even for a moment, think this case, and your responsibility, will be buried along with him. I will keep on asking until I get an answer!

Moody’s RATING for Maldives hasn’t changed, we’re still at CAA2.
So what does it mean when the Finance Minister said outlook is “upgraded from negative to stable”?
The OUTLOOK is about the future, not the present. It simply means that our current status, non-investment-grade (junk), is unlikely to get worse in the near term. In other words, we’re expected to remain exactly where we are.
Think of it this way:
You got a D last term, you got a D this term, and the teacher says you’ll probably get a D again next term, at least you’re not expected to fall to an E.
If an entire Gov machinery and its media celebrate that as an achievement, it shows just how low the bar has been set.
Key takeaway:
RATING: No change. Still CAA2. Non-investment-grade (junk)
OUTLOOK: We may not worsen from our current state
🚨 BREAKING: Palestinian journalist and activist Saleh al-Ja’frawi has been confirmed killed in Gaza.
Al-Ja’frawi had previously received direct Israeli threats as part of a campaign targeting journalists who exposed the Israeli army’s crimes during the war.
Initial reports indicate he was killed inside Gaza, with suspicions pointing to collaborators working with Israeli forces in carrying out the assassination.
