@simonsinek I'm reading The Infinite Game, and I finally have words to describe what it is about my thinking that's different from too many others; somehow I've learned to think with an infinite mindset. What's the best way to find CEO acceptance speeches (to hear their words)?
Was so excited about the custom Skittles machine at the Rivercenter mall in San Antonio until it didn’t have the wild berry, then didn’t even give me one of the flavors I paid for. No way on screen to get a refund; @Skittles, how do I get one?
@RealBenjizo D, because evaluation of default argument expressions are done at a really stupid and annoying place in Python.
(Not that I’ve lost hours of my life due to this before….. nope, definitely not)
@andrewgreenoff@driscollis Think of them as reference-counted smart pointers (aka shared_ptr). “del x” is the same as x.reset(), and thus the object isn’t deleted because y still references it.
@andrewgreenoff@driscollis Imagine the variable itself as a person pointing at a balloon. Now imagine you tell the second person to point at the same balloon. Then tell the first person to stop pointing at the balloon.
This is what's happening. The people and balloon are different.
@andrewgreenoff@driscollis It's not a push-pull between C and A. The key is that y isn't a copy of the object, it's a copy of the reference.
x = Spam()
# At this point, there's one reference to the new object, and that reference is stored in x
y = x
# now there're two
del x
# now only one
exit()
# now 0
@navarrotells In this video - https://t.co/gwWS4ff2ss (which should start at 12:43) - the body language transition of the guy in the front row is fantastic. The person to his right reacts as well (though they've been more consistently fidgety). Behaviors in real-time are great!
To the cast of @Stranger_Things: if any of you are interested in local DnD games while you’re at the Albuquerque studios, you’d be welcome at our table! We meet at a game store, so we’re used to people having inconsistent schedules and new members. DM me if you want to connect!
@tacobell As a customer and also a software developer, I have a software bug report for your computer ordering system (or at least the one my local TB uses). How do I get this to you?
@MsBBanner I just saw this in a Cracker Barrel. I would never have even noticed this before, but now my first thought was “is it a chain stitch or does it have a bobbin?” Then I discovered it’s one of the first electric sewing machines - clearly with the traditional design. Cool!
@JewelStaite What a coincidence! I just had that very same birthday a month ago when I realized I can compress my foam pillow into my suitcase! (Slept soooo well that night too!)
@navarrotells Makes sense. I’m thinking of things like taking a step towards someone then a step back and see what they do. We’ve now been programmed to keep distance, which I’m guessing will take a while to un-learn.
@navarrotells I’m curious… How do you see the pandemic affecting some of the body language in What Every Body Is Saying et al? Both in the near-term (i.e. soon after social distancing) and the long-term (i.e. when we truly get back to a new “normal”)?
