@CratusComm @AndyvonBradsky @PRP_News @HousingLINews @HousingLIN Strong line up for this debate, which really needs more prominence nationally as this sector all too often seems left behind in new policy
@JonathanJJLee @sricketts1 I remember the Gravesham case as the Rectory challenge as I was involved with the Lower Shiplake appeal that is quoted here which was allowed with no affordable as the inspector reasoned we were a C2 residential institution therefore entirely at odds with the Rectory decision
@JonathanJJLee Love the strategically placed tea bags there. I’d love to raid my office and take my desk but that would be going a bit too far I think (and the fact it wouldn’t fit in my car anyway)
No surprise my feed is full of election comments. Some of them astound me given what I've always believed to be the RTPI code of conduct about acting in a professional manner and ensuring that political interests don't conflict with duties. Maybe I have taken that too literally
@mspry_ Shame I missed that as it was a close call between your breakout and the 'How to get more homes permitted' with Oxford city council which wasnt as informative as I'd hoped
Off to the Planning for Housing Conference today. With the election now the line up of speakers has slightly changed but the replacements are of a very high calibre still
@zacksimons Zack a very useful update, remember this being covered at a conference on planning law updates last year. Wonder if it will be clarified again differently anytime soon
@mspry_ @RobertJenrick What would be the radical reform and how different from the almost annual reform we have had up until now. Devolution to local levels isn't always the answer to more delivery, whilst at the regional level there are also inherent concerns.
@JonathanJJLee The UCO is a mess and needs a complete update really to be fit for purpose but the Govt have bigger things to deal with right now. Maybe the Green Paper will take things forward
Attending #wpplanning event on extra care housing today. Some interesting perspectives on the need for a new use class order and what defines a scheme as C2 or C3
@JonathanJJLee @mad_mtber I'm only doing container offices and storage not yet had someone wanting to construct a house this way. I'm sure it's only a matter of time though
@drneilharris Would make an interesting addition to the course at Cardiff. Should Local Plans reflect the position of all councillors no matter their political affiliation to ensure things are more certain. South Oxfordshire potentially doing the same thing despite Growth Deal implications
When council after council refuse to positively engage on the topic (south oxfordshire the latest to have their approach questioned by Inspectors on their emerging plan) perhaps this is a topic that is more deserving of true action not jokes
Just catching up on reading the latest #ThePlanner mag and saw this article. I know it is in response to the conversion of flats with no windows and meant in jest but when you consider just how hard it can be to deliver specialist housing for older people I question it.
@PlanningActBlog Wonder who of these have the oldest current development plan. Medway plan is from 2003 although they have tried to get newer ones through in the past
@SParkinson12 That is a mad level. It always amazes me when clients are faced with councils charging more than we do as private sector consultants when the advice councils give is not binding. What is worse is when it is a high fee...and 4 months after a meeting still no written feedback
